The Los Angeles Galaxy are a professional football (soccer) team based in Carson, California. The Galaxy were one of the ten founding members of Major League Soccer, that began play in 1996. The club played their home games at the Rose Bowl from 1996–2002 until they moved into their own soccer-specific stadium, The Home Depot Center in Carson, California, in 2003.
Recently, the Galaxy have attracted extensive media attention for signing probably the most popular athlete in the world David Beckham, in a deal worth $255 million.
